Dorothy Ostrowski became the owner and president of Adams & Ruxton in 2019. Ensuring that business continued without interruption and that clients needs were met, she immediately immersed herself in every facet of the business, quickly learning to estimate, bid and project manage. As president, she is involved in all day-to-day operations and oversees all contracts and financial transactions of the company.

Dorothy’s path to construction ownership is anything but ordinary. She was a military police officer in the National Guard for seven years, serving in locations ranging from Afghanistan to Italy to Panama. After her tour of duty, she traded in her uniform for scrubs, working as an emergency-room nurse for more than a decade before transitioning into health care business and management. Given her National Guard experience, she successfully certified the company as a veteran- and woman-owned business enterprise with the Supplier Diversity Office of Massachusetts. Under her leadership, Adams & Ruxton has successfully received national certification with the Women’s Business Enterprise Council (WBENC) and has been certified as a veteran-owned small business (VOSB) with the Small Business Association. Dorothy lives in Suffield, CT, with her husband. Michael, their sons, Jackson and Gavin, and their four-legged family members, Paige and Molly.

Dorothy, her family and her company are very active in charitable causes that impact their community. Adams & Ruxton is a sponsor for the Walk With Us golf tournament, whose mission is to provide financial aid and lessen stresses for brain tumor and brain cancer patients and their families. The company is also committed to helping local children and families in need by getting involved with and choosing to sponsor various events held by Friends of Feeney.
